Laptop with Core i9-8950HK shows up at 3DMark database
3DMark’s database lists an MSI laptop containing a Core i9-8950HK processor. Earlier there were rumors about the arrival of the overclockable CPU with six cores and twelve threads.
VideoCardz noted the presence of the Core i9-8950HK with 3DMark. A screenshot shows that the chip has six cores and can work on twelve threads and that the clock speed is 2.9GHz with a boost to 4GHz. Whether that will be the actual clock speeds is not certain. According to a previous rumor, the Core i9-8950HK has a turbo speed of up to 4.8GHz. Possible lower speed of 4GHz when using all cores.
The Core i9-8950HK seems to be in a large gaming laptop, because there are also two GTX 1080 GPUs present. Presumably, the Core i9 is only used in such large and heavy laptops, because they have enough space for cooling. The K designation indicates that it is an overclockable processor.
In addition to the Core i9-8950HK, Intel will probably come with a whole series of hexacores for laptops, which will follow the current HQ processors with four cores. In November last year, a long list of all the different models appeared. The Core i9 is the absolute top model. It is not yet clear when Intel will officially announce the arrival of the CPUs.
