Apple does not supply a charger and no EarPods with the iPhone 12 models as standard, reports the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple would like to reduce costs and point out the benefits for the environment.

Apple’s production costs for the iPhone 12 models would increase compared to the iPhone 11 due to the 5G support, but the company would keep the retail price comparable, expects Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who is mostly right. with Apple claims. MacRumors has seen the document containing Kuo’s claims.

By not including EarPods and a charger in the box, Apple would therefore reduce its costs and maintain profits. At the same time, Apple can point out that many customers already have a charger, thus highlighting the environmental benefits. According to Barclays analysts, Apple will include a Lightning-to-USB-C cable, but Kuo doesn’t seem to say anything about this.

The analyst does report that Apple will offer a 20W charger, in addition to the existing 5W and 18W charger. Kuo also claims that Apple will no longer include a 5W charger with the upcoming Plus version of the second-generation iPhone SE, but will supply 12W chargers with the iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini.
