Apple may release new AirPods models in 2024 or 2025. This was reported by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The company is expected to launch new AirPods Max headphones and cheaper AirPods earbuds in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025.

Kuo reports in a series of tweets that Apple wants to introduce, among other things, a cheaper set of AirPods. The company uses a target price of $99, the analyst writes. Right now, the second-generation AirPods are the company’s cheapest wireless earbuds. These have a suggested retail price of $129, or 159 euros. Earlier this month, analyst Jeff Pu spoke also about cheaper AirPods.

At the same time, Apple would like to introduce a new version of its AirPods Max. The company introduced the first version of these headphones in 2020 for 629 euros. Since then, no new variants of the AirPods Max have been released. There are no details yet about these new AirPods Max, apart from the release period in 2024 or 2025.

Kuo previously wrote that Apple will release future AirPods with a USB-C connection for charging. The current variants still use Apple’s Lightning connector. The alleged switch to USB-C is in line with a European law that requires USB-C from autumn 2024 on small devices such as smartphones and the charging cases of wireless earbuds.
