Konami postpones major eFootball 2022 update and cancels paid content
Konami postpones content update v1.0.0 and the mobile version of eFootball 2022 to spring 2022. In addition, the paid Premium Player Pack will be canceled. Customers who have pre-ordered the dlc for the otherwise free game will automatically receive their money back.
Version 1.0 of eFootball 2022 was scheduled for November 11 this year, but according to Konami, the planned content is not yet at the desired level of quality. The publisher and developer is currently working on the promised Creative Teams game mode that would be introduced with the update. In addition, eFootball 2022 would get cross-play and release for mobile platforms; that too has been postponed to the spring of 2022.
Only when the relevant update was released would players be able to use the paid content from the Premium Player Pack. Customers could buy in-game currency and a new look for 8 different football players for roughly 40 euros. Anyone who has already purchased the DLC will need to download and install the game again, with the exception of the Steam version of eFootball 2022.
Presumably, Konami will first want to make sure that all content in the upcoming update is up to par due to the exceptional amount of criticism the game has received. After the release of the free Pro Evolution Soccer sequel in September, the game was criticized by reviewers and gamers for the very limited amount of content and the technical condition of the game. According to Steam tracker steam250.com, eFootball 2022 is the worst-rated game on the platform yet.
