Kojima Productions Announces Death Stranding Movie
Kojima Productions is teaming up with Hammerstone Productions on a Death Stranding movie. The film will have its own story that will introduce “new elements and characters” to the Death Stranding universe. Kojima recently announced a sequel for the game.
It will be the first time Hideo Kojima, founder of Kojima Productions, is working on a film based on one of his games, although the game studio has previously opened a division for TV series and films. Hammerstone founder Alex Lebovici says according to deadline that “unlike other game-based movies that have big budgets,” the Death Stranding movie should be “more intimate.” It is not yet clear who will write and direct the film, and the release date is also not yet known.
Death Stranding first appeared on PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and has since been released for PC and PlayStation 5. In that open-world game, players take on the role of Sam Bridges, a man tasked with transporting cargo in a post-apocalyptic world. Kojima announced Death Stranding 2 last week, which should be released for the PlayStation 5.
