Kodi warns that forum users’ passwords have been captured in hack
Software maker Kodi warns that the data from the accounts of all forum users has been stolen in a hack into its software. One or more criminals were able to back up and download the entire database via an admin account.
Although the passwords are encrypted, Kodi warns that all users should assume that the password is out there. Kodi therefore warns that users who use the password on other sites or services should change it there as well. Kodi wants to reset the password for everyone on their own forum, but that has not yet been successful.
In the meantime the system is offline. It is unknown exactly how many accounts are involved. Someone entered the MyBB system as an admin because it was an inactive admin. This entered the software twice in February. The entire database has been backed up and downloaded. That database is offered online. It is unknown who is or are responsible for the hack. It is also not clear when the forum will be online again.
