Kodi will end support for Windows Vista. With the release of version 18 of the multimedia software, Windows Vista will be missing from the list of supported operating systems, after Windows XP was previously deleted.

The news came out via Kodi’s website. The most important message is for users who are still running Windows Vista; they cannot upgrade to version 18 of the software, which is codenamed Leia. For them, version 17 remains the last version functioning on the operating system. As a reason for the discontinuation of support, Kodi states that the number of supported systems is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with, so that a number of the list must be removed. The discontinuation of support from the manufacturer, in this case Microsoft, also plays a role in the decision.

In the past, Kodi already stopped supporting the first Xbox, for which the first version of the multimedia software was created. The curtain has already fallen for Windows XP, the Apple TV2, OS X 10.8 and Ubuntu 12.04.

Kodi has previously posted an article online in which it explains which innovations version 18 brings. For example, there is the possibility to search the Android version of Kodi via voice commands. A number of new Kodi features will probably be announced at a later stage; version 18 is currently only available as a developer build.
