Kingston to release PCIe 4.0 SSD KC3000 on October 25

Kingston announces the KC3000, the company’s PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD with M.2 form factor. The manufacturer equips the SSD with a Phison E18 controller. Partly because of this, the advertised maximum sequential read speed is 7GB/s.

Kingston reports to build the KC3000 around ‘the latest generation 4×4 NVMe controller’ and 3D TLC Nand memory. That controller, according to Computerbase, is the Phison E18. This controller is also present on recent PCIe 4.0 SSDs with M.2 form factor from Seagate and Corsair, among others. As with those SSDs, sequential read speeds of up to 7GB/s can be expected. The number of iops at random reading would amount to up to 1 million.

With the 2TB and 4TB versions of the KC3000, the sequential write speed is also 7GB/s. With the 1TB version, this is 6GB/s and the 512GB version writes sequentially at a maximum of 3.9GB/s. The 1TB and 512GB versions also get a lower advertised number of iops. Kingston will start sales on October 25 at undisclosed suggested retail prices.

Last April, Kingston released its M.2 format KC2000 SSDs. These included PCIe 3.0 models with maximum sequential read speeds of 3.5GB/s.
