Kingston releases USB stick with keypad
Kingston has announced the DataTraveler 2000, a USB stick with a physical keyboard. This makes it possible to set a lock code and protect the contents of the stick.
According to Kingston, the data on the stick is protected with AES-256-bit encryption. There is a keyboard on the stick with which a password or pin can be set for security. The encryption key and password are deleted after ten failed login attempts. For security, Kingston uses ClevX’s DataLock Technology.
The DataTraveler 2000 will be available in storage capacities of 16, 32 and 64GB. Connected via USB 2.0, all three variants have a read speed of 30MB/s and a write speed of 20MB/s. Via a USB 3.1 connection, the 16GB stick has a read speed of 120MB/s and a write speed of 20MB/s, while that is respectively 135 and 40MB/s in both the 32 and 64GB variant. The stick can be used with Linux, Windows, OS X, Chrome OS and Android.
Kingston wants to deliver the USB stick in the first quarter of 2016, but for what price is not yet known.
