Kim Dotcom will start again with Megaupload next year
Kim Dotcom will start Megaupload again next year. He announced this on Twitter. All users who had a Premium account on Megaupload will get Premium features again with the new version of the service.
For this, those users receive an e-mail, say dotcom. The new version of Megaupload is likely to go live in January, five years after the previous version closed. The owner of the service already hinted on a comeback of the service under the same name on Wednesday. On Twitter, he refers to it as Megaupload 2.0.
Users get 100GB of storage space and they can access files from ‘all devices’, claims Dotcom. After Megaupload closed, Dotcom launched a new service called Mega. In 2015, he severed his ties with Mega and stated in an interview with Slashdot that users’ data is no longer safe with that service.
According to Kim Dotcom, the new service will be “much better than Mega and much easier to use.” Little else is known about the service. Dotcom wants to announce more later.
