Kickstarter project offers OLED screen to make your own smartwatch
A Kickstarter project offers a small OLED screen with which users can make their own smartwatch or wearable. Extensions are also available. The screen is intended to be able to display data from the TinyDuino board.
The TinyScreen is a 0.96″ OLED screen with a resolution of 96×64 pixels, giving the screen around 120 pixels per inch. With the TinyScreen, a TinyDuino board and a 3D-printed design, users can assemble their own smartwatch. In addition to a smartwatch, the company that offers the screen on Kickstarter promises that smart glasses and other wearables are also possible.
The company also offers all kinds of extensions, such as a joystick to play games on the small screen, but also a microSD card slot, USB and sensors such as a tilt sensor and gyroscope. External hardware can also be connected via breakout boards. The TinyDuino board has been around since 2012, when it was also a Kickstarter project.
The project has already reached its $15,000 goal and has nearly a month to go. The small screen should be with people who financially support the project by January next year.
