Kernel Driver for Ricochet Anti-Cheating Technique Rolling Out to CoD: Warzone

Activision has announced that the kernel driver for the anti-cheat technique Ricochet will be added in phases to the PC version of Call of Duty: Warzone. The driver will be available for the Asia-Pacific region first this week. The rest of the world will follow ‘later’.

Activision will not announce when exactly the rest of the world will get the kernel driver for the anti-cheat software. According to the company, the driver will be released in Asia-Pacific first to make it easier to monitor operation and make any necessary adjustments.

Ricochet was already made available for Warzone and Vanguard when the latter game was released, but that was only on the server side, and not yet at the kernel level. Vanguard should also eventually get the kernel driver of the anti-cheat technique, but first it is Warzone’s turn, Activision writes.

The Riccochet kernel driver is added to the PC version only. This is because the software reads applications on users’ computers, so that it becomes clear whether cheating is being done with an external program. According to Activision, console players will also benefit from the software, as they can also deal with PC cheaters through crossplay.
