Kaspersky Lab is not currently filing a complaint with the European Commission about Microsoft’s abuse of its dominant position with Defender in Windows 10. According to the security company, Microsoft is listening to its complaints and is making adjustments.

Kaspersky Lab chief executive Eugene Kaspersky tells Reuters there are ongoing talks with Microsoft about the matter: “They are listening to us and have made some changes.” According to the CEO, his company will not file a complaint if Microsoft meets all objections.

With this, the CEO strikes a different tone than at the end of 2016, when he indicated that the measure was full. He then stated that he had made requests to numerous authorities in different countries that the authorities should oblige Microsoft to put an end to competition violations.

Kaspersky’s objections boil down to Microsoft using its dominant position in the operating system market to create a competitive advantage with Defender. Microsoft will automatically deactivate existing av suites with a Windows 10 upgrade and enable Defender instead, Eugene Kaspersky claimed in a comprehensive statement.

Update, May 3: Eugene Kaspersky denies that the company is temporarily ceasing to file the complaint with the EU.
