Kaspersky puts its collaboration with the No More Ransom ransomware project and with Europol on hold due to the European Parliament resolution passed Wednesday, labeling the security company as malicious.

according to the company’s founder and chief executive, Eugene Kaspersky, has ended public-private partnership like Kaspersky Labs had until the European Parliament reverses the decision. He reports being forced to freeze cooperation with organizations such as No More Ransom and Europol. It is not clear which other organizations are involved.

According to Kaspersky, the decision welcomes the European Parliament to cybercrime and claims that his company has protected the EU for 20 years by cooperating with authorities and that this has led to several arrests of internet criminals.

Kaspersky is one of the driving forces of No More Ransom, along with Europol, the National Police and Intel Security, which has been standing on its own two feet as McAfee since a year ago. On that site, victims of ransomware can find out what malware they are infected with and what tools they can use to uninstall the ransomware.

On Wednesday, the European Parliament passed a resolution calling for “exclude potentially dangerous programs and equipment and ban programs and equipment known to be malicious, such as Kaspersky Lab.” No evidence was presented for that claim.
