The critically acclaimed Journey game will be available on Steam on June 11. The game had been available to PC players since June last year, but back then it was still an exclusive title on the Epic Games Store.

Publisher Annapurna Interactive has the Steam release date of June 11 announced on Twitter. This makes the title more widely available to PC players, after a year of exclusivity on the Epic Games platform.

In Journey you take on the role of a mysterious figure in a robe as a player. You must find your way through a mysterious landscape to a mountain in the distance, where the route leads through a desert with all kinds of ruins. Along the way, the player is treated to beautiful landscapes and music, and puzzles must be solved. It is also possible to communicate and collaborate with other players, although this is not possible via speech or text. In Journey, players have to discover for themselves what the intention is and that also applies to communication; players can create a kind of language among themselves based on the sounds the character can make.

Journey was created by the American independent developer Thatgamecompany. The game was released in March 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and in July 2015 a modified version for the PlayStation 4. A port for PC was released in June last year, but it is only available through the Epic Games Store. Since August last year, the game is also out for iOS. Presumably there will be no Android version; Annapurna previously indicated that the port is only for PC and iOS and the publisher also said that there are no plans for the Nintendo Switch.
