Jolla has announced that its tablet will not be delivered to the first customers until the end of July at the earliest. The company says that the delay is caused by some parts of the Sailfish OS 2.0 being unfinished and that a different touchscreen has been chosen.

The notification about the delayed Jolla Tablet can be read on Jolla’s blog. The company states that although the necessary progress has been made with Sailfish OS 2.0, several components still need considerable development time before they are ready for market. For example, Jolla mentions the support for running Android apps on Sailfish and the ability to handle multiple devices in the back-end of the Jolla Store.

Jolla further reports that it has opted for a different display. The company decided at the last minute to include a higher-quality display in the tablet. The new screen would, among other things, offer a more balanced color spectrum. However, the choice for a new touchscreen causes a delay in the production of the tablet.

Due to the factors mentioned, Jolla has announced that the first tablets will not be shipped to participating Indiegogo users until the end of July. Jolla previously mentioned another release in June. Jolla will open a developer program in June in which a number of app developers will already have access to the Jolla Tablet.
