Joled wants to develop OLED monitors for e-sports
Joled has entered into a partnership with an e-sports team and says it wants to develop OLED monitors that are optimal for e-sports. The manufacturer is currently making a 21.6″-4k panel with an RGB printing technique.
According to the announcement, Joled will provide the e-sports team Burning Core with test samples of the OLED monitors. The company has not yet provided details or specifications. It may be a monitor based on the existing 21.6″ panel, which has been in production since the end of last year. Asus showed an OLED monitor with that panel at the beginning of this year, but that is not a gaming monitor.
Joled is a Japanese manufacturer that was founded in 2015 and consists of the OLED divisions of Sony and Panasonic. The company uses an RGB printing technique to make OLED panels of average size. According to Joled, it is easier to make such panels with his technique than with the conventional vapor deposition method.
It is not yet clear whether and when gaming monitors will actually become available to consumers. OLED monitors are currently hardly available and very expensive. Dell released a 30″ OLED monitor last year for $ 3499. What the 21.6 ” variant of Asus will cost is not yet known.
