Manufacturer Jide Technology has announced new hardware that runs on its Remix OS. The Remix Pro is a 12″ tablet with keyboard cover. There will also be a new Remix Mini PC. The hardware runs on version 3.0 of the Android-based operating system.

The Remix Pro and new Remix Mini, which AndroidPolice and LiliPuting write about, will initially only be available in China and are not yet on the Jide website. The tablet is the successor to the Remix Ultra. The new model has a 12″ screen with a resolution of 2160×1440 pixels.

There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652-soc with 3GB ram and 32GB emmc storage memory in the 6.9mm thick device, which weighs 635 grams. The battery has a capacity of 9000mAh and there are two cameras: an eight-megapixel version on the back and a five-megapixel version on the front.

Jide is also working on a new version of the Remix Mini, a small box with USB, Ethernet and HDMI connections, which can be used as a PC. The new version will be equipped with a Rockchip RK3368 soc that has eight Cortex-A53 cores. There is up to 2GB of RAM and up to 16GB of emmc storage, which can be expanded with a micro-SD card. Jide does not want to sell the new Remix Mini itself, but supply it to OEMs who can then release the device under their own name.

The Remix Pro tablet is the first device to run on Remix OS 3.0, which is based on Android 6.0. The current Remix OS 2.0 is based on Android 5. Jide already added the option to work with separate windows in that version, a function that Google itself has now implemented in Android N.

Furthermore, Jide has announced that the founder of the Android x86 project has joined the company. Chih-Wei Huang will lead Jide’s development of the x86 version of Remix OS for PCs. The developer previously worked at Asus on the Eee PCs.
