Jailbreak coming for iOS and tvOS 11.0 and 11.1
The first jailbreak for iOS 11 and 11.1 and tvOS 11.0 and 11.1 has appeared. The developer has put the necessary installation file online. The jailbreak will not work on the latest version of iOS, version 11.2.1, so users need an old version of iOS.
Developer Morpheus has announced the jailbreak on Twitter and put the necessary ipa file online on the page for liberiOS. The jailbreak currently does not work on iOS 10 and below, although the developer says he may make a backport. The method also doesn’t work on iOS 11.2 and 11.2.1. The method can also be used to jailbreak Apple TVs with tvOS.
The jailbreak does not install Cydia and developer Saurik has not yet made its repository and interface for using ‘jailbreak apps’ compatible with iOS 11. It is unknown if and when that will happen. Morpheus also wants to first make sure that the jailbreak is stable when injecting code, like Cydia apps do.
With the lack of Cydia, the jailbreak is not very useful for many users. Jailbreaking started under iPhone OS with the first version. That was the only way to install apps on iPhones back then. Jailbreaking has been popular for years, but its popularity has declined in recent years as Apple added more and more features that required jailbreaking to its mobile operating system.
