IRobot makes vacuuming and mopping robots work together
IRobot has announced the Roomba s9+ vacuuming robot and the Braava jet m6 mopping robot. The two domestic helpers are connected to each other so that one can start when the other is ready.
Thanks to the connection between the vacuum and mop robot, which iRobot calls Imprint Link connectivity, the Braava jet m6 leaves its charging station to begin its mopping job when the Roomba s9+ is back at its charging station. The Roomba i7+ also supports Imprint Link.
Users can use the iRobot Home app to request that the two robots work together to clean a single room or an entire floor. That app supports Google Assistant and Alexa for voice control.
The Roomba s9+ contains a 3D sensor that scans rooms at a frequency of 25 times per second to create floor plans of rooms in combination with the camera. IRobot calls its navigation technique iAdapt 3.0 and it could respond dynamically to changes in rooms and determine the most efficient route. The Roomba S9+ is self-emptying and includes wider brushes and an angled brush for better cleaning performance than its predecessors.
The Braava jet m6 also supports the iAdapt 3.0 technology. Users of the mop robot can view Clean Map reports afterwards via the app to see statistics about the work performed, such as where the help has cleaned.
The Roomba s9 + robot vacuum cleaner with base station goes on sale for a suggested retail price of 1499 euros. The suggested retail price of the Braava jet m6 is 699 euros. Both will be released in the Benelux in August.
