iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, the developer and publisher of the popular PC racing simulation game iRacing, has acquired Monster Games. In that context, IRacing specifically refers to introducing racing games for a broader market.

In a press release posted on its website, the simulation game company said this acquisition will bring additional expertise to iRacing’s team and expand its capabilities to bring the highest quality racing games to a wider market. iRacing also specifically mentions the consoles. Not much concrete has been said yet.

The iRacing development team will, in its own words, remain 100 percent engaged in the development of its ‘core product’, iRacing. According to Tony Gardner, the president of iRacing, his company can add a lot to Monster Games’ products, such as assets, graphics, technologies and physics. He talks about a lot of synergies between the studios that both could benefit from. Gardner also says the Monster Games team will build “to explore the broader racing game market and eventually funnel serious sim racing into our flagship product iRacing.”

Monster Games will currently continue working as usual on an as yet unannounced project due out later this year. New titles released after that will be developed with technology and content from iRacing, Monster Games and Orontes Games. The latter is a studio that was acquired last month and released the racing game DRAG Outer Zones on Steam in 2020.

Monster Games came out with the title Viper Racing in 1998 and released the racing game SRX: The Game last year. The company is probably best known for the NASCAR: Heat game series, which it co-owned with 704Games. The last title in that series is NASCAR Heat 5 from 2020.
