iPhone warranty no longer expires after third-party screen replacement
Apple iPhones with a screen replaced by a third party will no longer lose all warranty. Customers will only have warranty issues if the issue they are returning the phone for is related to that screen.
MacRumors is breaking the news based on an internal Apple memo they’ve seen. According to the editors, the authenticity of this has been verified by several sources. In any case, the policy would come into effect in the US and Canada, but it is certainly possible that other countries will simply follow suit.
When a customer goes to an Apple Store with a warranty issue, it is first checked whether the device is still under warranty and whether the screen is from Apple itself or not. In case of a problem related to an unauthorized screen, a customer can have it solved by Apple, but this will be at the flat rate that is charged when a device is outside the warranty period. In case of other types of problems with an iPhone with a screen replaced by a third party, Apple may soon be able to help the customer.
