iPhone 11 shows warning after ‘unofficial’ screen replacement
The iPhone 11 smartphones show a warning if the screen has been replaced and if Apple can not verify whether it is an official screen. The warning will be on the lockscreen for four days and after that it will only be visible in the settings menu.
Once the lockscreen notification is gone, it will remain on the first page of the settings menu for another 15 days. After that period, the notification will go to the Info menu under the General heading of Settings. The notification does not affect the operation of the iPhone.
That Apple shows the warning is apparent from a new page on Apple’s support website. Only the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and Pro Max will display the warning after a screen replacement. Users will not see such a notification if a screen is replaced at an official repair point.
According to Apple, replacing an iPhone 11 screen with an unofficial one can cause several problems. The manufacturer states that multi-touch may no longer work properly, that the screen may not turn off during a call and that palm touches may be registered. Apple also warns of problems with brightness and color reproduction when using unofficial screens. Furthermore, the iPhone manufacturer states that errors can occur if an iOS version is released that includes adjustments for the screen.
Since last month, Apple has also shown a similar warning for iPhones whose battery has been replaced by an unofficial one. At the end of August, Apple promised to provide more small and large independent repair companies with official iPhone spare parts through an independent repair program.
