iPad models: All iPad models in a row
It has been ten years since the very first iPad appeared. Then people thought it was a crazy device: a huge iPhone that you can not call. In the meantime, the iPad has become an integral part of the daily lives of many people. In many families, it is a real utensil that young and old use. In fact, the word iPad is so common that it is used for all types of tablets. Also for tablets that are not from Apple.
All iPad models in a row
In the past decade, Apple has released more than 20 iPads. The iPad Pro 2020, released in March, is the latest addition to the tribe. Which iPad models are there? You may remember which product line your iPad comes from. Is it an iPad, an iPad Air, an iPad mini or an iPad Pro? But even then: seven generations of the ‘regular’ iPad have already appeared. It is not surprising that many people have no idea which iPad they use.
In this complete iPad overview, we list all iPad models. We discuss the models per product line in reverse chronological order, so from new to old. There are four product lines:
- iPad Pro
- iPad
- iPad Air
- iPad mini
With all iPad versions, we show you a photo and discuss some striking features of this iPad type. This way we help you recognize every iPad.
Which iPad do I have?
In ten years time, no less than 23 iPad types have appeared and they look and largely the same. Almost then. You can identify your iPad based on specific features, photos and – and above all – the model number.
Which iPad do I have? The most reliable conclusion about this can be drawn from the model number. That tells you exactly what type of iPad you have in your hands. You can find the model number on the back of your iPad. It consists of an A followed by four numbers – and put on your reading glasses if you try to detect it.
For newer iPads, you can also find the model number via “Settings> General> Info”. There is already a number behind “Model number”. That’s it – watch out – not. Tap this number and another model number will appear. You must have this. Then find the corresponding model in the table below.
If you want to quickly see the photos and description of a specific type of iPad, click or tap below on the relevant iPad for the corresponding description plus a corresponding photo. We use the naming conventions as Apple does.
