iOS 12.2 beta includes setup screen for new AirPods

The iOS 12.2 beta would include a new setup screen to set up Hey Siri on AirPods. Current AirPods do not support that feature. Earlier there were rumors that the new wireless earphones should be released soon.

The setup for Hey Siri on AirPods is currently hidden, claims 9to5 Mac. The AirPods will do the voice recognition to determine if it is the user talking and if they are indeed saying Hey Siri. That would make it possible to call the assistant without taking the phone out of the pocket.

There have been rumors for some time about the arrival of new AirPods. For example, the Bluetooth SIG steering committee has already approved the earphones. The new AirPods would have bluetooth 5.0 and a new generation W chip for making the connection with iPhones. It would also contain new ways to monitor health.

Apple already showed AirPods with Hey Siri support in the opening video of the iPhone keynote. The lady in the video then called Siri through her earphones, a feature that is not possible with the current generation of wireless earphones.
