In beta version 6 of iOS 12.2, traces have been found that may indicate an imminent introduction of the AirPower. Apple’s wireless charging plate has been delayed for a year and a half and has even been declared dead on more than one occasion. Perhaps the gadget will still be there.

9to5Mac first discovered concrete support for the AirPower in the latest beta version of iOS 12.2. For example, the operating system contains specific code that is responsible for the recognition of different devices. The AirPower can wirelessly charge up to three devices simultaneously, with the device with the largest screen showing the battery status of all gadgets on the charging plate. Lines of code were also found related to the 3D animation shown on the screen when charging begins.

According to 9to5Mac, these traces in iOS 12.2 may indicate that the AirPower is really about to see the light of day. Apple will hold a press event on March 25 that will likely focus largely on the company’s new streaming service. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that Apple will also launch the AirPower there. Earlier this week, the manufacturer already introduced a new iPad Air and iPad mini, and more powerful iMacs.

After the preview of the AirPower in 2017, Apple experienced several problems in the production of the device. For example, the mat turned out to be too hot, so that devices cannot charge as quickly and the batteries of devices also heated up, causing them to wear out faster. Furthermore, the hardware and software of compatible iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches did not work well together.
