IO Interactive shows Hitman 3’s first gameplay trailer
IO Interactive has shown the first gameplay footage of Hitman 3. The developer shows different locations and explains how players can tackle the missions in the game. Hitman 3 will be released on January 20, 2021 for consoles and PC.
The three-minute gameplay trailer is on YouTube and features gameplay footage of levels in Dubai, Dartmoor and Chongqing. The video has a 4k resolution and frame rate of 60fps. The game must also be playable with those features on the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5.
As with previous Hitman games, in their role as hitman Agent 47, players can solve missions as they see fit. It is possible to use weapons or use the environment to take out targets. In Hitman 3, players will have access to a new camera, which can be used to open locks.
Hitman 3 runs on IO Interactive’s Glacier engine. On the next-gen consoles, that engine can display up to 300 computer-controlled characters simultaneously in locations. According to the developer, character interactions and AI are also better on the new consoles. It is possible to import the locations from the previous Hitman games into Hitman 3. The improvements to rendering, animation and AI from Hitman 3 are then applied at those more than twenty locations.
Sony reports that the PlayStation 5 version of the game will support features of the DualSense controller. The game can also be played with the PSVR headset, but that only works with the PS4 version. To do that on the PS5, the PS4 version must be installed, which will then run in backwards compatibility mode.
On January 20, 2021, Hitman 3 will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. The game also appears for the Nintendo Switch as a cloud version that can be played via streaming.
