Intex shows prototype Aqua Fish smartphone with Sailfish OS 2.0

Intex, an Indian producer of smartphones, among other things, is releasing a Sailfish phone called Aqua Fish. The 5″ smartphone uses Sailfish OS 2.0. It is not yet known what the device will cost.

The Intex Aqua Fish has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core that runs at up to 1.3GHz. The phone has 2GB of ddr3-ram on board, 16GB of internal memory and a 5″ screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The whole is powered by a 2500mAh battery. The Aqua Fish also has a double SIM slot for microsims. specifications such as what kind of cameras the smartphone will have have not yet been announced.

According to Jolla Users, it is still a prototype. The Jolla user site notes that the phone performs well even when running Android applications. Jolla Users does indicate that it has not yet tested heavier applications such as games.

There are currently no plans to sell the phone outside of India, but the phone does support European frequencies. Despite no pricing available, there are rumors that the phone will also hit the US market for $146. Since the most expensive phone from Intex in India costs 7799 rupees, which is converted about 104 euros, that amount does not seem unreasonable. The phone should hit the Indian market in May.

The partnership between Jolla and Intex was announced in July 2015.
