The upcoming Google Chromecast with Android TV and remote control has, according to a new rumor, a modified version of Android TV, in which apps are no longer central, but movies and series.

The interface should more quickly entice users to watch something, Protocol reports based on various sources. The home screen of the current Android TV shows apps that users have installed, such as those from streaming services. With the new home screen, Google reportedly wants to be able to compete better with the services of Amazon and Roku.

Google plans to release the device in the coming months, Protocol reports. The announcement was said to have been scheduled for Google’s developer conference I/O next week, but it has been canceled due to the recent coronavirus outbreak. When the announcement should now take place is unknown.

The successor would have approximately the design of the current Chromecasts, but would be equipped with a remote control. In addition, the dongle will run Android TV, eliminating the need for another device to stream. Some time ago, the first information about this product came out. The price would be under $ 80 and the dongle may be given the Nest brand name. Google has not responded to the rumor.
