Intel will follow up 600p-series SSDs in 2017 with 610p NVME SSDs
According to rumors, a new line of SSDs from Intel will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2017. The SSDs would be equipped with an m2 connection and use the PCI-e 3.0 4x interface.
According to BenchLife, the SSDs come in capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. BenchLife often has Intel information available before products are officially announced. Like the 600p series, the SSDs use 3D TLC NAND. The models are scheduled to go on sale at the same time as the 600p’s for some time, until they disappear from the market in the third quarter of 2018.
A 545s model can also be seen on the roadmap that Benchlife shares. This model will be available in 2.5″ or m2 variant and will use the sata interface. Like the nvme drives, they use 3d-tlc-nand. The m2 variant will have capacities between 256GB and 1TB , and the 2.5″ variant adds a 2TB capacity. The models will probably follow the 540s SSDs.
Prices are not yet known. The 600p series hit the market in September at prices that are relatively low for NVME SSDs. Read and write speeds are also relatively slow for NVME SSDs, with write speeds barely exceeding those of SATA SSDs.
