Intel to collaborate with Fossil on wearables
Intel has announced a partnership with the company Fossil, which makes watches and various fashion accessories, among other things. Together they will work on ‘fashionable’ wearables, in which a smartwatch seems to be a logical first product.
Although Intel and Fossil announced that they would collaborate on wearables, the two companies have not yet announced which products they plan to release. However, it is plausible that the focus is on releasing a smartwatch; many technology companies have already released or are working on smartwatches.
Fossil is particularly known for its fashion accessories. It is therefore likely that the company will mainly focus on the design, while Intel provides the necessary technology such as the soc. However, few details have been disclosed about how the collaboration will ultimately take shape. According to Intel and Fossil, the target is the ‘fashion-conscious’ user, but what this exactly means remains to be seen.
Earlier it appeared that Intel wants to focus on the release of smartwatches, when the company Basis was acquired. This smartwatch maker is now part of Intel’s New Devices Group.
