Intel shows GPU software that automatically optimizes game settings
Intel is working on a new interface for its graphics drivers. A teaser shows that Intel’s software will soon be able to detect installed games and adjust their graphics settings automatically, based on a preference for quality or performance.
The functionalities are known from Nvidia and AMD, who offer the same in their driver packages. These are especially helpful for users who can’t or don’t want to tailor individual graphics settings in games to their needs and prefer to get started with a slider with ‘quality’ on one side and ‘performance’ on the other. Intel has not yet announced a release date for the updated software.
Phoronix further writes that Intel has released support for the graphics chips in the upcoming Comet Lake CPUs for Linux. The graphics chips do not differ much from the existing chips in Kaby and Coffee Lake processors, according to the site, but the addition is still important to ensure that the GPUs work on Linux.
