Intel roadmaps show arrival of Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K in October
Intel is said to be planning to release the first three Coffee Lake-S Refresh processors in October. At the same time, Basin Falls Refresh is expected. Those are the hedt processors for the X299 platform with up to 18 cores.
The information comes from several Intel roadmaps that have come online in recent days. China’s Hkepc shows documents stating that the introduction of the Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K will take place in October. A review embargo will also expire. Details about these processors, which are part of the Coffee Lake-S Refresh generation, have already come online. The i9 would have eight cores with HyperThreading and the i7 would also have eight cores but no HyperThreading. The i5 is a hexacore, also without HyperThreading. More models in the Coffee Lake-S Refresh series would follow in early 2019. This probably concerns the cheaper and slower clocked versions, which cannot be overclocked.
The introduction of Basin Falls Refresh will also take place in October, according to the document. These are the successors of the current Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors for the X299 platform. Details about the new processors are not yet available, but it concerns a Refresh generation, in which the architecture remains the same. The top model again gets 18 cores and a TDP of 165 watts.
Wccftech claims to have a roadmap from Intel that contains more new processors. That image shows, for example, the arrival of the 28-core processor, which Intel demonstrated during the Computex fair in early June. It is a Skylake-X processor and production will start in the middle of the fourth quarter of this year. It is not yet known when the sale will start.
The roadmap also provides a further look into the future. For example, production of Glacier Falls should begin in the third quarter of 2019. That is the successor to Basin Falls. Innovation in the field of Pentium N processors does not seem to be coming.
