Intel will probably introduce hexacore CPUs for laptops around May. This is evident from a leaked roadmap from Intel. It also states the arrival of Coffee Lake-E, which are Xeon processors with six cores for workstations and laptops.

The German ComputerBase has put slides online from Intel, showing the roadmap of January. The images show many processors that have been rumored for a long time, such as the Core i7-8850H and the Core i5-8400H for laptops. The former is a hexacore with HyperThreading, the i5 is a quadcore with HyperThreading as well.

The laptop processors are scheduled for release sometime in the second quarter. The announcement is likely to take place in May. There are only two H-processors on the slides, but there may be more. In November last year, a long list of new Intel CPUs appeared, which includes more variants in addition to the two H models mentioned.

Furthermore, the roadmap shows the arrival of the Core i7-8700T, Core i5-8500T and Core i3-8100T. These are economical variants of the existing desktop CPUs without the T addition. They have a TDP of 35 watts, but also lower clock speeds. These processors are expected at the beginning of the second quarter, possibly around April.

Intel will also release Coffee Lake hexacores in the Xeon series for workstations. These are the Xeon E-2176G for desktops and the Xeon E-2176M for laptops. There will also be a Xeon E-2124G, but that is a quad-core with HyperThreading. The new Xeons are added to the line of Xeon E3 models, but no longer carry the E3 designation. Like their predecessors, they have a built-in GPU.

Finally, the slides reveal the arrival of Cascade Lake-SP server processors with eight to twenty cores. They are the successors of the Skylake-SP processors on the Purley platform and are therefore referred to as Purley Refresh. The Cascade Lake CPUs run on the same socket, in 1, 2, or 4-socket configurations. New is support for Vector Neural Network Instructions DDR-T/Apache Pass Dimm support. In addition, according to the slides, Cascade Lake offers an improved architecture and higher frequencies.

Cascade Lake-SP is on the roadmap to arrive in the third quarter of this year. At the end of last year, an Intel roadmap appeared online showing Cascade Lake-X. That is the successor to Skylake-X, the series of high-end desktop processors from Intel.
