Intel releases model numbers of Xeon Gold and Platinum processors
Intel has released the model numbers of 34 upcoming Xeons: fourteen Platinum and twenty Gold processors. These are the server processors based on the Skylake-SP platform, of which the most powerful models, according to previous reports, have 28 computing cores.
The list of type names has appeared with the Product Change Notification database, Computerbase noted. The list includes fourteen Platinum, twenty Gold and eleven Phi processors from the Xeon family. The most powerful Xeon seems to be the Xeon Platinum 8180. It has a clock speed of 2.5GHz and according to previous reports 28 cores. The Xeon Platinum 8156 is the processor in this line with the highest clock speed: 3.6GHz.
Among the Gold models, the 6152 models are the most powerful with 22 cores and a clock speed of 2.1GHz; the 6154 with 18 cores has a clock speed of 3GHz. It is about the H0 stepping of the chips and from the naming it can also be concluded that models with M and T suffixes appear, where the T traditionally indicates economical versions.
In addition to the Platinum and Gold Xeons, there are still Silver and Bronze models to follow in the Skylake SP line, also known as the Purley platform. These are named successively in the 4000 and 3000 series and are equipped with ten and less than ten cores respectively.
