Intel puts NUC mini PC with Broadwell on its site
Intel has put new NUC mini computers on its site. These are models with Broadwell processors and with connection for SSDs of the M.2 form factor. The cover of the small PC can also be replaced by variants with, for example, NFC support.
Intel has put several images on its NUC page and there is also a list with model numbers of the new types. These are NUCs codenamed Rock Canyon for the mainstream and Maple Canyon for the business market. Specifications of the systems have already appeared on the internet and Intel already showed prototypes at its own IDF event.
The fact that the systems are now on Intel’s own site makes a quick release likely, but release dates and prices are still unknown. It is clear that these are NUCs with Core m processors based on the Broadwell architecture, which Intel has adapted so that the TDP is 15W. The photos show that the NUCs on the front panel have a yellow USB 3.0 port, for sleep & charge functionality with which devices can be charged, even when the system is turned off.
Also on display is the detachable cover, which users can replace with variants with support for wireless charging, NFC and possibly even touch scenes. The motherboard shows that the systems can be equipped with M.2 SSDs.
