Intel launches overclockable Kaby Lake Core i3-7350K
Intel seems to be releasing an overclockable Core i3 with its Kaby Lake processor generation. It concerns the Core i3-7350K, with two cores, four threads and a clock speed of 4.2GHz. The processor will cost about $180.
The processor is in the pre-order list of an American webshop, as noted by CPU-World. There are three Core i3 processors on the list, including a K model, with unlocked multiplier. The clock speed is 4.2GHz without overclocking. It is not yet known how much space the processor offers to increase the speed.
Intel has not released any overclockable i3 processors so far. The processor manufacturer did introduce the Pentium G3258 a few years ago, also a dual-core with unlocked multiplier. That Pentium chip, however, does not have hypertreading, something that the Core i3 chips do have. The Core i3 also has a larger amount of L3 cache memory of 4MB. According to the pre-order list, the overclockable Core i3-7350K costs about $177.
The type numbers and details of the Core i5 and i7 processors of the Kaby Lake generation have been known for some time and have been confirmed by Intel. Intel will showcase the new processors at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas in January 2017.
