Intel Introduces Full Kaby Lake Generation Processors
Intel has released the Kaby Lake processors for the desktop and quad-cores for laptops. Some models of this 14nm Kaby Lake generation were already released in August last year, but the full line-up is now being announced.
In August, Intel introduced just six models of Kaby Lake, all for mobile devices. On January 3, Intel will introduce the large wave of Kaby Lake processors, supplementing the laptop range and making the new generation also available for the desktop. For laptops, there are now a total of four Y-series socs, five U-series processors with HD Graphics and eight U-series processors with Iris Plus graphics, half with 15W TDP and the other half with a 28W tdp. Intel also releases two mobile Xeons and no less than seven processors from the H-series, with HD Graphics and available in i3, i5 and i7 variants.
For the first time, Kaby Lake is also available for the desktop. The desktop series consists of a total of sixteen models. Six of these are housed in the T-series, which have a 35W TDP. The regular desktop processors consist of one i7, three i5 and three i3 processors. Finally, there are also three K-series overclockable processors, with the i7-7700K being the top model, followed by the i5-7600K. In contrast, it has to do it without hyperthreading on its four cores and taps at 3.8GHz to 4.2GHz. The i7 runs at 4.2GHz to 4.5GHz and both have a TDP of 91W. At the end of January, an i3 processor with a freely adjustable multiplier will arrive, the first in its class.
With the introduction of seventh Core-generation desktop processors, Intel is also introducing a new chipset family, the Series 200. It consists of five chipsets: the Z270 for gaming and high-end systems, the H270 for mainstream systems and the Q270 and Q250 for business systems. and B250 is for the cheaper segment. The chipsets include support for Optane memory, but no USB 3.1 standard on board yet.
