With the Genuino development board, students in particular can get started with the Curie module. As the name suggests, the Genuino 101 board is compatible with existing hardware and programming environment for Arduino.

The Genuino 101, a portmanteau of Intel’s Genuine Intel and Arduino, is the first development board available for the Curie module. Intel introduced the Curie module during CES in early 2015. It is a very compact chip with a Quark soc, some storage, a bluetooth module, motion sensor and sensor DSP on board. The now announced board was developed together with the founders of Arduino. In the United States, the board is even called Arduino 101. The Genuino 101 is introduced in Rome during the Maker Faire Rome.

Expansion boards and modules for Arduino are also compatible with Genuino 101, so that an extensive platform is available immediately upon introduction. Intel and Arduino mainly target students with the platform, who can learn to program with Genuino and build prototypes with hardware. Genuino will therefore become part of the Creative Technologies in the Classroom program, where Arduino courses with hardware and software will be given. That is also the reason to offer the Genuino 101 board attractively priced. From the beginning of 2016, the sign should be available for about 27 euros.
