Intel expects to introduce 10nm processors in early 2017
Intel is expected to release the first 10nm processors in early 2017, a general manager of the group recently announced. This seems to indicate a delay: Intel previously talked about a release in 2016.
“We have consistently followed Moore’s Law and this has been the core of our innovation for the last 40 years,” Taha Khalifa, Intel’s general manager for the Middle East and North Africa regions, recently told Gulf News. “The 10nm chips are expected to be introduced in early 2017,” he said.
Intel will use the 10nm process for the Cannonlake-generation processors. Cannonlake is the successor to Skylake, the chip generation that should appear in the second half of 2015. Last September, Intel stated that 10nm production is on track and that Cannonlake would appear in 2016, but the group seems to be experiencing delays in the development process.
