Intel has expanded its line of Xeon D-socs for microservers, storage and networking applications with eight new chips. It concerns three quadcores, two hexacores and three octacores, which are produced at 14nm.

The socs with integrated PCs and support for HyperThreading have clock speeds ranging from 1.9GHz to 2.7GHz. The octacores have a cache of 12MB, the hexacores have 9MB and the quadcores have to make do with 6MB.

The chips support a maximum of 128GB DDR4-2133 memory and two 10GbE connections. Intel focuses mainly on storage and network applications with the chips, where they should distinguish themselves by their low consumption.

In addition to the Xeon D’s released at the beginning of this year, the eight new socs will be added to Intel’s range. In the first quarter of 2016, the line will be expanded with 12 and 16 core variants, the manufacturer promises. This would be the D-1557 and D-1567 with twelve cores and 18MB cache and the D-1577 with sixteen cores and 24MB cache.

Update, 11-11, 13.00: Type numbers of upcoming socs added.
