Intel confirms Kaby Lake line of desktop processors
Intel has released the model names and clock speeds of its Kaby Lake processors for desktops. The company is coming with three Core i7s and seven Core i5s. Earlier, the specifications leaked through rumors.
Intel has announced the names and clock speeds via a product change notification. The most powerful Kaby Lake quad-core is the Core i7-7700K, clocked at 4.2GHz. Intel does not mention Turbo clock speeds in the notification. The names match those of earlier rumours, also mentioning cache amounts and tdp’s. Intel will introduce the Kaby Lake generation at CES 2017, early January.
The site Wccftech claims to have dollar prices of some of the processors. The Core i7-7700K will cost $349 and the Core i7-7700 $309. The Core i5-7600K will be priced at $239, according to the site. The Core i7-7700K previously appeared for a pre-order price of 360 euros at an Estonian web store, but that page has been taken offline.
The Kaby Lake generation is a refresh from Skylake. Intel is not basing the processors on a new architecture and they are still produced at 14nm, just like Skylake and Broadwell. The first Kaby Lake processors have already appeared, for economical laptops.
