Intel closes developer forum to comply with Russian law

Intel has closed its developer platform in Russia to comply with Russian law. According to the company, the changes will not affect the English-language developer forum. Victims are redirected to other sites, allowing them to remain active.

The company itself has come out with information about the closure of the developer platform. The new legislation allows the Russian government to fine companies that violate media laws. For example, more control over online content should be enforced, ZDnet writes.

Forum posts, blogs and Russian-language comments are blocked. The changes do not apply to the English-language developer platform, according to Intel. Users would still be able to post articles, blogs and comments there. Other visitors are redirected through a third party. This concerns Habrhabr, a Russian community site related to tech.

An anonymous source told Techcrunch that Intel’s developer blogs are among the most popular of their kind. In December, GitHub was already blocked in Russia. GitHub subsequently censored certain banned content to ensure the platform’s survival in Russia.
