Intel CEO Brian Krzanich resigns over employee relationship
Brian Krzanich has left as CEO of Intel because he had a relationship with an employee of the company. That is against the rules of the chip manufacturer. The financial director is temporarily taking over the duties.
Although the sexual relationship was consensual, it is against Intel’s rules and so he resigns, the company reports. It is unknown whether the rest of the board has pushed for the departure of 58-year-old Krzanich or whether he took the step of his own accord. According to CNBC, the relationship happened some time ago, but the company only recently found out about it. The rules prohibit managers from having a relationship with subordinates.
Financial director Robert Swan is taking over the duties for the time being, while Intel is now looking for a permanent replacement for the departing director. Krzanich has been a director of Intel for five years and has been with the chip company since 1982.
