Intel and Japanese provider NTT Docomo have canceled the Mobile World Congress telecom fair. The Chinese manufacturer TCL has canceled its press conference, but is still on the stock exchange. This is all happening because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Intel is canceling the “safety of its employees and partners,” the company told Venturebeat. Reuters now reports that NTT Docomo has canceled. TCL announced on Monday that it had canceled its press conference on Saturday, although the company is present at the stock exchange.

Earlier, Amazon, LG, Ericsson and Nvidia already announced that they would skip the fair for the same reason. Exhibition organizer GSMA reports that the exhibition will continue as usual, despite the cancellation of a number of parties. According to the authorities in Barcelona, the fair is safe to visit, Reuters said.

According to the organization, about 2800 exhibitors are coming to Barcelona and measures have been taken to limit risks. For example, there is a ‘no-handshake’ policy on the stock exchange. The Mobile World Congress will take place from February 24 to 27. Several manufacturers hold a press conference in the weekend before the fair, including Oppo, HMD Global, Lenovo and Huawei. MWC is by far the most important telecom event of the year.
