Intel Announces NUC 13 Extreme Mini PC With Intel Raptor Lake Processor

Intel announces the NUC 13 Extreme mini PC, which can be equipped with 13th generation Intel CPUs. It can also accommodate a graphics card that takes up three slots. For this, Intel had to make the case slightly larger than previous NUC PCs.

Intel previously showed the NUC 13 Extreme with working title Raptor Canyon in a stream. Now the manufacturer officially announces the mini PC. The NUC 13 Extreme is due for release in 2022 and prices in the US start at $1,179. European pricing and availability have not yet been announced.

The NUC 13 Extreme comes in various configurations and can be equipped with a Core i5, i7 or i9 from the Raptor Lake generation of Intel CPUs. The most powerful model has a Core i9-13900K CPU with eight P-cores and sixteen E-cores. The PCs can be equipped with up to 64GB of DDR5 sodimms and have three M.2 slots with PCIe 4.0 interface.

The desktops don’t come standard with a graphics card, but the extra space should allow room for video cards that use three slots. Initially, GPUs of this size could not be used in the new NUC, but after feedback from customers, Intel decided to adapt this and make the case larger.

For those who do not want the full NUC 13 Extreme mini PC, Intel also makes the compact motherboard with CPU and cooling available as the NUC 13 Extreme Compute Element. It will be on sale from $760.
