Intel announces H770 and B760 chipsets for motherboards
Intel has announced the H770 and B760 chipsets for its thirteenth-generation processors. As a result, manufacturers can start releasing motherboards with those chipsets. Until now, this was only possible with the more expensive Z790 chipset.
Intel hardly talks about the new chipsets, but has put the specs online on a page about the Z790. Among other ASUS has already announced motherboards with the new chipsets. More will probably follow in the coming days.
The H770 and B760 do not allow the CPU multiplier to be adjusted, unlike the Z790. As a result, overclocking is not possible by default, although manufacturers can add an external clock generator to make overclocking possible by setting the base clock higher. To what extent this will happen is as yet unknown.
