‘Instagram TV gets new investment to increase popularity’
Instagram appears to be planning to revive its Instagram TV video service. Investments would be made in the service and discussions would be held with creators to post content and increase ad revenue.
That reports The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources. Instagram itself has not yet confirmed the news. The TV service would be prioritized within Instagram, with the intention of allowing creators to post more content and increase ad revenue. Parent company Facebook is said to be conducting tests to offer creators more options to integrate ads into their content.
Talks are said to be held with creators, but it’s not clear who exactly, or if any major creators are considering releasing content on IGTV as well. Currently, Instagram TV is still little used by video makers. For example, by adopting an advertising model where revenue is shared with creators, they should be enticed to post content on Instagram TV as well, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Instagram TV came out in mid-2018, providing a way to watch longer videos on the social media website. However, it appears that the service is not yet very popular among users.
