Instagram tests horizontal scrolling in feed

Instagram has done a test with scrolling horizontally in the feed, instead of vertically. The interface ended up with more users than was initially intended, says a CEO of the Facebook subsidiary.

The interface meant that posts in the interface were next to each other, while users could scroll vertically for comments, according to images captured by Cheddar journalist Alex Heath. put online. The test hit more users than Instagram wanted, says Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri. That more people got the test interface would have been a bug.

Instagram has been testing a horizontal interface for posts for some time, as has been common in Stories for some time. That initially happened a few months ago in the Discover tab, but this week’s test focuses on the user’s feed.

The Facebook subsidiary does not say whether it will change the interface to the horizontal version in the near future. It is also possible that the new interface will become an option. The test has now ended and all users have the vertical feed again.
