Instagram gets ads in more places
Social medium Instagram is getting ads in more places. That has parent company Meta announced. New types of advertisements will appear in, for example, short videos, or Reels, and on the profile pages of users.
Instagram: Advertisement in Explore Tab
Reels are ads lasting four to ten seconds that users can skip, says Meta. The ads appear when users have finished watching a Reel. Normally, it would then go into a loop, but in the future an ad may come in between for users who are going to see the video for the second time.
The ads in the feed on the profile provide an additional opportunity for creators to earn money, Meta says. Through revenue sharing, the holders of those accounts can get money for ads that appear in the feed on their profile page. A trial will be run with American accounts.
The third spot is the Explore tab in the app. Advertisements were already there, but not on the tab’s home page, the grid with small boxes. They will come, says Meta. The company touts the new ad spots as ways for companies to reach existing and new customers. Meta does not share any expectations or findings about how the new ad spots affect the user experience. Instagram is a free to use app and makes money from targeted ads.
